Study Spotlight #25: Cannabis terpene limonene mitigates THC induced anxiety and paranoia
The cannabis common terpene limonene can mitigate the harsher anxiety associated effects of THC. An international team of researchers conducted placebo-controlled double-blind experiment in an outpatient setting where healthy adults where administered vapors of either THC alone (15mg or 30mg), d-limonene alone (1mg or 5mg), both in combination, and placebo. Resulting data revealed that when the terpene was inhaled alone its effects where the same as with the placebo–nil. However, when given in combination with THC d-limonene was able to significantly mitigate THC-associated paranoia, nervousness, and anxiety.
