PRIMARY STUDY

The effects of cannabinoids on the kidney

Key Findings:  The endocannabinoid system (ECS) plays a crucial role in the kidneys as well as the cardiovascular system but recent studies how cannabis can have detrimental effects on both the kidneys and the cardiovascular system. Drugs targeting the cannabinoid system offer potential therapeutic applications in both, but the negative impact of cannabinoids on renal function and cardiovascular diseases should continue to be considered.
