The Associations of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) With Substance Use in Young Adults: A Systematic Review

Key Findings:  In young adults, exposure to multiple adverse childhood experiences is a clear risk factor for substance use especially alcohol, cannabis, and other drugs. Some mechanisms explaining this link include poor self-regulation and maladaptive coping strategies.
