Associations between Cannabis Use, Cannabis Use Disorder and Mood Disorders: Longitudinal, Genetic, and Neurocognitive Evidence

Key Findings:  The current evidence looking at cannabis use, cannabis use disorder (CUD), and the onset of depression is limited. There appears to be a bidirectional association as cannabis use may also influence the development of mood disorders, and others use cannabis to self-medicate symptoms of mood disorders. Further research is warranted.
