PRIMARY STUDY

Hypokalemic Paresis in a 26-Year-Old Man After Recreational Cannabis Use

Key Findings:  This case report is of a patient who presented to the emergency department with worsening paresis and low serum potassium levels following cannabis consumption. Other causes of hypokalemia were ruled out. Cannabis, via cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1)and G protein-coupled (GPC)potassium channels, is suspected of causing low potassium levels in rare circumstances, as is suspected in this case.
