Effects of combination therapy with direct hemoperfusion using polymyxin B-immobilized fiber and oral vancomycin on fulminant pseudomembranous colitis with septic shock

Key Findings:  This case series outlines 2 patients with septic shock who were treated with direct hemoperfusion using polymyxin B-immobilized fiber and oral vancomycin, which dramatically improved both cases. The mechanism is believed to improve the hypotension-correcting cytokine balance with adsorption of endogenous cannabinoids in serum.
