PRIMARY STUDY

Simultaneous measurement of anandamide and 2-arachidonoylglycerol by polymyxin B-selective adsorption and subsequent high-performance liquid chromatography analysis: increase in endogenous cannabinoids in the sera of patients with endotoxic shock

Key Findings:  Researchers discovered higher level of anandamide and 2-AG in patients with endotoxic shock than in healthy persons. This finding suggest a role of these endogenous cannabinoids in the development of hypotension secondary to human endotoxic shock.
