Characteristics of subgroups of individuals with psychotic illness and a comorbid substance use disorder

Key Findings:  This study utilized case managers' assessments and standardized instruments to analyze 233 South London community mental health patients with serious mental illness and comorbid substance abuse, finding no significant differences in inpatient service usage or self-harm among subgroups defined by substance type, but identified higher rates of violence among stimulant users compared to those using alcohol or cannabis alone or in combination.
