PRIMARY STUDY

Cannabinoid use is enhanced by stress and changes conditioned stress responses

Key Findings:  Cannabis self-administration (THC + CBD) in stressed rats altered conditioned stress responses by increasing the salience of neutral cues, which promoted active behaviors like drug seeking, while stress-associated cues inhibited drug seeking and induced passive coping behaviors, suggesting cannabis may exacerbate conditioned stress responses.
