β-Caryophyllene, a phytocannabinoid attenuates oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, glial activation, and salvages dopaminergic neurons in a rat model of Parkinson disease

Key Findings:  This study demonstrates that β-caryophyllene confers neuroprotection in a rotenone-induced rat model of Parkinson’s disease by preserving dopaminergic neurons and attenuating oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, microglial activation, and astrocyte hypertrophy through potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms.
