PRIMARY STUDY

Delta9-tetrahydrocannabivarin as a marker for the ingestion of marijuana versus Marinol: results of a clinical study

Key Findings:  This study investigates the differentiation between marijuana and Marinol use in drug testing by detecting delta9-tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) and its metabolite, THCV-COOH, in urine. Clinical data show that THCV-COOH is present in urine only after marijuana ingestion and not after Marinol use, providing a reliable marker for distinguishing between the use of naturally sourced cannabis and synthetic THC in drug testing scenarios.
