PRIMARY STUDY

Comparative accuracy of biomarkers for the prediction of hospital-acquired acute kidney injury: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Key Findings:  This meta-analysis looking for biomarkers of acute kidney injury finds that neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) had the best predictive accuracy. Other biomarkers assessed were kidney injury molecule-1, liver-type fatty acid-binding protein, interleukin-18, and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-2 × insulin-like growth factor-binding protein-7.
