Remote ischemic pre-conditioning alleviates contrast-induced acute kidney injury in patients with moderate chronic kidney disease

Key Findings:  In patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing angiography using contrast dye, after 24 hours there was a much smaller change in urinary liver-type fatty acid-binding protein (L-FABP) levels in the group that received remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) compared to the control group who did not, suggesting RIPC may prevent contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI).
