PRIMARY STUDY

Expression of GPR55 and either cannabinoid CB 1 or CB 2 heteroreceptor complexes in the caudate, putamen, and accumbens nuclei of control, parkinsonian, and dyskinetic non-human primates

Key Findings:  Complexes formed of a variety of sub-units (heteromers) such as GPR55 and CB1/CB2 receptor sites in the striatum of parkinsonian macaques (with and without levodopa-induced dyskinesia) show an increased expression. As such, the author posit the potential for novel non-dopaminergic targets for PD therapy.
