Endocannabinoid Signalling in Parkinson's Disease: A Perspective on Associated Therapeutic Interventions

Key Findings:  In patients with PD endocannabinoids regulate various signaling systems in a bi-directional fashion. These include: the basal ganglia neuronal circuit pathways, synaptic plasticity, and motor functions via communication with dopaminergic, glutamatergic, and GABAergic systems. Therapeutic effects include: neuroprotection, suppression of excitotoxicity, oxidative stress, glial activation, and more.
