The Current and Potential Application of Medicinal Cannabis Products in Dentistry

Key Findings:  This review covers the available research on the use of phyto- and synthetic cannabinoids and the role of the endocannabinoid system in a multitude of oral and periodontal diseases. Overall cannabis and cannabidiol specifically appear to have promising anti-inflammatory, anti-infective, and analgesic effects but the rigor of the evidence is currently lacking. Future research may provide therapeutic options in the management of dental diseases.
