PRIMARY STUDY

Cannabinoid receptor activation on hematopoietic cells and enterocytes protects against colitis

Key Findings:  Test animals received either CBD, Δ 9-THC, a combination of CBD and THC or vehicle. Resulting data revealed that THC prevented colitis via activation of CB2 (independent of changes to the microbiome) while CBD (at the dosages tested) alone or in combination induced little benefit.
