Overview - Delta-8-THC

Description of Delta-8-THC

Delta-8-THC is found in relatively small amounts in cannabis. It was partially synthesized as early as 1941 by Roger Adams et al., while the stereospecific synthesis was first reported in 1967 by Rafael Mechoulam et al.

Delta 8-THC is generally very similar to Delta 9-THC. According to in vitro and in vivo studies, one of the major differences is that the effects of Delta 8-THC are generally weaker M. Tagen et al., 2022).

Delta 8-THC has two known metabolites, i.e., 11-hydroxy-delta 8-THC (11-OH-delta 8-THC) and 11-oxo-delta 8-THC. In some earlier scientific papers, Delta 8-THC was called Delta 6-THC.

Warning: All tested Δ-8-THC vaporizers contained heavy metals and other harmful substances (J. Meehan-Atrash et al., 2022).

Other Names:

Delta-8-Tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta-8-THC)

DELTA.8-Tetrahydrocannabinol, Delta.6-THC, DELTA.8-THC, DELTA.6-Tetrahydrocannabinol and other supplier-based synonyms.

IUPAC Name: 6,6,9-trimethyl-3-pentyl-6a,7,10,10a-tetrahydrobenzo[c]chromen-1-ol
